Stone worktop – installation planning and ordering

When to schedule the installation of a stone worktop

Schedule the installation approximately one week in advance of your desired date. If you cancel the installation time less than 24 hours before the booked time, we still have the right to charge for the planned work.

Schedule the installation of the worktop for the time when the installer can work undisturbed. It is essential that you or your representative are present during the installation to review and accept the completed work, ensuring its quality.

You arranged for a lifting aid or crane independently

If you have arranged for a lift assist or crane for the installation, please provide us with the schedule so we can plan accordingly.

Schedule the installation approximately one week in advance of your desired date. If you cancel the installation time less than 24 hours before the booked time, we still have the right to charge for the planned work. Book the worktop installation for a time when the installers can work undisturbed. It is important that you or your representative are present at the installation to exchange important information with the installation team. This way, you can communicate your wishes and requirements to the installation team before they begin, and then review the final result together.

The installation team arrives within two hours. When booking an installation time, the date and time of arrival of the installation team are agreed upon in a two-hour period, for example, from 10 am to 12 pm. The installation team arrives within a specified time interval. As we carry out several different types of projects per day, it is difficult to predict the exact time of arrival. The installation team will contact you or your representative about an hour before arrival and indicate the exact time of arrival.

Yes, we also install worktops measured by the customer or someone else. However, you need to consider that we cannot assume all responsibility for their suitability in this case.

A worktop installation can take 1 to 3 hours depending on the complexity of the project.

It is important that you or your representative are present at the installation to exchange important information with the installation team. This way, you can communicate your wishes and requirements to the installation team before they begin, and then review the final result together.

The worktop pieces are meticulously positioned, levelled, and secured at the base with silicone adhesive, allowing for future adjustments if needed. The joints are aligned, filled, and finished with silicone or two-component adhesive in a colour matching the stone.

Please schedule a plumber and electrician for the day following the worktop installation. Glue and silicone require 12 hours to dry after installation.

What do we expect from the customer to ensure a successful installation?

All cabinets, additional sides and cladding panels must be installed, wall-mounted and levelled, and the existing or temporary worktop must be removed. In the case of a vertical continuation of the worktop side, the floor must also be installed. The lower edges of the walls behind the worktop should be clean.

The supports and cutouts identified during the measuring must be completed, and the base surfaces must be prepared for the installation of the worktop.

All cabinets, additional sides and cladding panels must be installed, wall-mounted and levelled, and the existing or temporary worktop must be removed. In the case of a vertical continuation of the worktop side, the floor must also be installed. The lower edges of the walls behind the worktop should be clean.

We install the sink, cooktop, electrical sockets, and other accessories integrated into the worktop, but we do not handle water, sewage, electrical, or ventilation work. We assess the suitability of the tap but do not carry out its installation.

Electrical sockets are also removed if background boards are installed. Close all temporary water and electricity connections during installation to prevent delays and accidents.

Please ensure that the installation team has unhindered access to the site and a safe working environment. The installation area must be well lit, accessible, clean and tidy, free from objects and obstacles that interfere with the installation. Due to the weight of the stone worktop, our installers wear safety shoes to comply with occupational safety requirements. We recommend covering the floor with a durable non-slip material. In the absence of floor protection, we are not responsible for damage to the floor.

Protect nearby furniture and appliances, as dust may accumulate during the installation process. For fragile natural stones, the reinforcement strips used during transport are removed just before installation. In the case of a vertical continuation of the side of the worktop, we grind the junction part on-site. We use a vacuum cleaner, but some dust may still accumulate on certain materials.

On the day of installation and two days after the installation, the room temperature must be at least +15º C to ensure the durability of silicone joints.

If you have arranged for a lift assist or crane for the installation, please provide us with the schedule so we can plan accordingly.

Do you also handle connections for the sink, tap, cooktop and electrical sockets?

We install the sink and cooktop into the worktop, but we do not handle water, sewage, electrical, or ventilation work.

We assess the suitability of the tap but do not carry out its installation.

What happens after the worktops are installed?

We clean the worktops and remove waste we created.

Silicone residues / cleaning agent traces: we clean surfaces during installation, but some silicone residues or cleaning agent traces may remain on the worktop or cooktop glass after excess silicone has been removed/cleaned. In most cases, they may remain around the undermount sink/cooktop and in places where silicone sealant has been used. The removal and cleaning of these traces is straightforward and everyone should be able to manage it independently. Use warm water and a microfiber cloth, or simply a dry microfiber cloth, and rub vigorously to remove the traces. Note! Do not rub with an abrasive sponge. Avoid scratches on the surface or glass.

  • the details are located correctly, and the overhanging areas, counter and seating areas are correct;
  • the details have no superficial or edge injuries, cracks or chips;
  • the sink, cooktop and other integrated equipment fits into the openings of the worktop and are correctly installed;
  • the details are correctly attached to the cabinets or base surface with glue;
  • the joints are level and correctly glued and filled;
  • the joint between the worktop and the rear wall is filled correctly.

We take photos of the work performed (general photo, photo of installed details, including the sink, cooktop, joints, backsplashes).

We make sure that the work is performed correctly and with high quality. We review the final result together.

Submitting warranty-related complaints is made as simple and convenient as possible. If you encounter any issues during the warranty period, please first file a complaint with the supplier, and then with Nordecos. After that, we will contact you to agree on a suitable time to examine the complaint. We might request photos of the affected area or detail to better assess the situation and understand the extent of the problem. After a thorough assessment of the issue, Nordecos is committed to resolving it promptly. Depending on the complexity, this may take between 1 to 4 weeks.
